Vermiculite Mineral

Vermiculite products manufacturer and exporter, raw vermiculite flake, Xinjiang Silver-white vermiculite, Hebei Gold Vermiculite, expanded vermiculite, vermiculite board, etc.

Expanded Vermiculite

The exfoliation process is carried out commercially by passing crude vermiculite through a furnace chamber in a controlled manner. The crude vermiculite then expands at right angles to the cleavage planes, producing concertina-shaped particles many times their original volume.

Raw Vermiculite Flake

Being one of the trustable mineral manufacturers, suppliers, and exporters, MiningValleys is engaged in offering premium quality crude vermiculite which is widely used in different industrial applications. We are approached by customers for availing of our Raw Vermiculite at reasonable prices.

Vermiculite Boards

Vermiculite boards are produced from expanded vermiculite and special inorganic binders. Vermiculite panels have high heat resistance at temperatures +1,300 °C and heat shock. They are widely used in pellet stoves, fireplace, partition panels, fireproofing doors, wall claddings, furniture, etc.

Rich Mineral Resources

Vermiculite Mineral

Vermiculite is a kind of natural, inorganic, layered mineral that comprises a group of hydrated, laminar magnesium-aluminum-iron silicate minerals resembling mica. It is a relatively rare mineral and belongs to silicate. Vermiculite deposits are associated with volcanic ultramafic rocks rich in magnesium silicate minerals, and flakes of the mineral range in color from black to shades of brown and yellow. The crystal structure of vermiculite contains water molecules, a property that is critical to its processing for common uses. Because vermiculite has the ability of ion exchange, it has a great effect on soil nutrition.

Being located in the north of China, one of the largest gold vermiculite mineral resources of China, MiningValleys can produce and provide a large amount of gold expanded vermiculite, silver expanded vermiculite, raw vermiculite ore, as well as fireproof vermiculite board. The size varies from 0.3mm to 10mm, and various specifications can be customized.

Unique Properties

Low Heat Conductivity

Very low in thermal conductivity – can be used as a filler for heating-insulating materials.

High Infusibility

When exposed to high temperatures, vermiculite does not melt nor emit harmful substances.

Low Bulk Densities

Vermiculite has considerable bulk density (700 to 1200 gram per kg, depending on the grade).

High Moisture Capacity

Exfoliated vermiculite is able to absorb liquids up to 500% of its own weight.

What is Vermiculite Used for?

Gardening and Agriculture

Vermiculite is well-known for being an effective growing medium beneficial to the soil. Commonly used in compost formulations with coir or peat. It improves the aeration of the soil, promotes a consistent release of added fertilizer, and improves moisture retention of the soil. Lightweight vermiculite itself also adds magnesium, potassium, and trace amounts of other minerals to the soil.

Construction Industry

Vermiculite is a very versatile mineral that can be used in the construction industry. Due to its slight bulk density, non-combustible, non-flammable, odorless, and economical, vermiculite is extremely valuable to the construction industry. When used for construction, vermiculite is an ideal ingredient in the manufacturing of building boards, plasters, loose-fill insulation, lightweight concrete floors, and roofs.

vermiculite loose absorbent

Vermiculite Absorbents

As an inert, non-hazardous, lightweight mineral, vermiculite can be an ideal liquid absorber which, although insoluble in water, oils and organic solvents generally, will absorb many times its own weight of various liquids and yet remain free-flowing. Vermiculite is ideal for the removal of all chemical spills, solvents, oils, and most acids, even when highly concentrated, without reacting or breaking down.

vermiculite void fill packaging

Void Fill Packaging

Expanded vermiculite is widely used in the shipping industry as a packing material. It is lightweight, Because it is lightweight, it does not drive up shipping costs. It is also clean and easy to pour around objects inside boxes. It protects products against impact and mishandling during the shipping process, and because it is non-abrasive, it is safe to use with items that may be scratched by other materials. Vermiculite is also highly absorbent and safely retains leaks that may occur while a package is in transit. Because of its effectiveness as an absorbent, it is commonly used when shipping hazardous materials.

Egg Incubation

Interestingly and rather unusually, vermiculite is used to incubate eggs, specifically reptile eggs. Eggs of all different kinds of reptiles including geckos, snakes, iguanas, and even turtles can be placed in exfoliated vermiculite and left to develop before they hatch. Once in a plastic container or something of the sort, the vermiculite must in most cases be dampened so as to be moist – not soaked. Depression can then be made in the vermiculite, large enough to place the reptile egg within and to ensure that each egg has sufficient space to hatch.
