silver-white exfoliate vermiculite

Silver-White Vermiculite

Silver-white Vermiculite has excellent properties such as thermal insulation, freeze resistance, antibacterial, fire resistance, liquid absorption, soundproof, and so on. When calcined at 800-1000°C for 0.5-1.0 minutes, the volume can rapidly increase by 8-15 times, and even up to 30 times. The specific gravity after the expansion is 50-200kg/m3, the color becomes silvery-white, then loose expanded vermiculite is formed.

Silver Expanded Vermiculite is widely used in construction, metallurgy, chemical industry, light industry, machinery, electric power, petroleum, environmental protection, transportation, and other sectors. It is mainly used in construction, insulation, packing, agriculture, and horticulture abroad.

Exfoliated Vermiculite

The exfoliation process is carried out commercially by passing crude vermiculite through a furnace chamber in a controlled manner. The crude vermiculite then expands at right angles to the cleavage planes, producing concertina-shaped particles many times their original volume. Exfoliated vermiculite size, includes 0.3-1mm, 1-3mm, 1-2mm, 2-4mm, 2-3mm, 3-5mm, 3-6mm, 4-8mm, 6-8mm, special size can be done as per customer’s demands.

Common Uses of Exfoliated Vermiculite

Refractory products

Common mixing vermiculite can be pressed into brick kiln can also be used to steel mills, boilers, vermiculite fire board for walls, security doors, fire on the ship, fire retardant paint, paint the tunnel fire.

Agriculture

  1. Improve soil, often with peat, perlite as organic fertilizer, retain moisture, keep the soil permeability, improve fertilizer for release action.
  2. Hatching, breeding, cutting, often the role of the field of pesticides, insecticides carrier, and the golf course turf

Horticulture

Horticultural Vermiculite is a natural substance that is light, absorbent, and odorless. It is chemically inert and sterile; therefore, is an excellent soil additive. Natural Vermiculite expands up to twenty times its original size when exfoliated. This allows for superior soil aeration, as well as moisture and nutrient retention which are essential in the greenhouse and/or organic gardening.

Since Vermiculite has a neutral pH (7) and is completely odorless and sterile, it is preferred by horticulturists, greenhouse and organic gardening enthusiasts alike over other soil additives and conditioners. In addition, Vermiculite does not break down or degrade over time. It remains in the soil permanently; thus it produces a superior product while requiring less maintenance.

Often, maintaining proper soil moisture can be quite tricky. Too little prevent proper growth and maturity, while too much can cause mold and bacteria growth in the soil. Proper soil moisture retention is another benefit of using Vermiculite in all soil mixes.

Lightweight Concrete

Need a lighter weight concrete? Concrete made with Vermiculite is only 15% of the weight of regular structural grade concrete. The moisture-absorbing properties of natural vermiculite aid in curing the concrete, which results in a stronger, lighter concrete product. In addition, using vermiculite concrete offers improved insulation over standard structural grade concrete.

The all-around cost savings benefit of using vermiculite concrete speaks for itself. However, as we continue to move toward greener construction methods and practices, vermiculite concrete is definitely a step with a smaller footprint. With vermiculite concrete, we are finding there is less need for structural steel reinforcement. In addition, it involves smaller foundation requirements and provides excellent fire resistance.

Feeding

Because vermiculite soft, non-toxic, sterile, good liquidity, strong adsorption, commonly used in many nutrients carriers, formulations, such as the concentration of fat, vitamins, honey, preservatives, antioxidants, and the like have a large number of applications.

Friction and sealing material

Because vermiculite resistant to high temperature, and is a multi-layer sheet structure, high temperatures generated during use in friction, sealing material, can make more than a single binder fiber, liquefaction, gasification, affecting the brake performance, adding vermiculite after the stone to prevent high-temperature heat recession, improve product strength, reduce noise, reduce the weight and cost of the product.

Package Materials

Vermiculite’s lightweight, absorbent, and nonabrasive properties make it an excellent choice for packaging material for any shipment. Vermiculite packing material is ideal for shipping anything hazardous, flammable, liquid, or any combination of industrial products when leakage could occur. Naturally inert and safe, it easily pours around irregularly shaped objects and provides superb shock absorbency.

Vermiculite’s natural absorbency and fire-resistant characteristics as well as its fluffy, cushioning texture make it an ideal option for use as packing material for important items that need to be stored for long periods of time. Never a need to worry about damage from fire, roof leaks or improper handling.

Vermiculite Standard Grade

Exfoliated Vermiculite is commercially available in various grain sizes. The most common sizes are 1-3mm, 2-4mm, 3-6mm, and 3-8mm. For mixing your own substrates or growing media, the grain size of 3-6mm is recommended. The grain size 1-3mm (or 2-4mm) can be used as a soil conditioner.

Furthermore, there is vermiculite in very fine grain size (0-1mm). This plays only a minor role in horticulture and is mostly used in the breeding of reptiles as a breeding substrate.

Chemical Composition

Vermiculite belongs to the hydrous aluminum silicate minerals which have complex chemical composition. Due to its uncertainty, expressed in a single chemical formula is difficult. In general, the chemical formula of vermiculite is (Mg, Ca) 0.7 (Mg, Fe 3 +, Al) 6.0 (Al, Si) 8.0 O20. Usually, the SiO2 is 37~42%, Al2O3 is 9~17%, Fe2O3 is 5~18%, MgO is 11~23%, H2O is 5~11%, the content of Ca, Na, and K is uncertain. But due to the hydration degree is different, have different oxidation, even with vermiculite, its chemical composition is not the same.
