Small-sized Vermiculite. Exfoliated vermiculite is now used extensively in the friction lining industry (eg. brake and clutch linings) as a safe alternative to asbestos, and plays an important in this field.
Brake linings finer grades of exfoliated vermiculite are being used in brake linings primarily for the automotive market. The properties of vermiculite that make it an appropriate choice for use in brake linings include its thermal resistance, ease of addition to other raw materials to achieve a homogenous mix, and its shape.
Effective Friction Lining Material
Expanded Vermiculite For Brake Friction is widely used in friction material at present, providing with a soft texture, a hollow structure, and excellent sound absorption performance. It is effectively reduce braking noise and the specific weight of the product. It is preferred as a brake additive because of its unique ability to heat dissipation, resulting in better fade and recovery.
As an asbestos replacement, it won’t thermally shock brake drums. Recovery testing using vermiculite shows a drastic reduction in airline pressure required for continuous braking.
